Substitute

I substituted a person - which is the heart shaped balloon in the picture. It is a tactile object - the so-called waterpearls inside it feel strange when object is shaken.
These waterpearls can oxidate - see in the bowl - and though they are synthetic, they feel very organic. Like rotten fruit.
This turned the whole thing into a vanitas, which is also a replacement - symbols are substitutes themselves.

However, there is no vanitas without a skull, so I made them.
