The process:
I wanted to make myself a friend like the dog I had in the picture.
Then I discovered these toy-eyes, and how they define a body.
And the fact that what has been seen, cannot be unseen - once you see the laughing face on the left (eyes, water/mouth, ditch/beard, you cannot not see it anymore.





Leading up to it, I took pictures of when and how these eyes would work:





























It works pretty much like the faces-in-places concept, only here the eyes define the space, the body - and also the character. So it's not only recognition, but also construction. Especially with the Pomodori - when the eyes are off, the character is gone.

NEW TERM, new chances

Make a statement

I started with a quotation:
"It's all so complex. Or it's all so simple. Or both. Or neither." (Ashleigh Brilliant)
and rephrased it as "My statement will change."

The work itself was a performance which incorporated all statements made by classmates and used three boxes for the purpose.
